I started out marching as a tenor drummer in an all-male percussion line for the St. Thomas Marching Royals all-girl drill team in which my wife Joy was a member in the mid 60’s.

I was Drum Major for the Simcoe Royal Blues Senior Drum & Bugle Corps 1966-68 and became Drum Major and eventually Corps Director for the Simcoe Golden Lions Junior Drum & Bugle Corps throughout the period 1969 - 1978. I’ve been the Drum Major for the United Alumni right from its inception in 1998.

Born and raised in St. Thomas, Ontario I married my childhood sweetheart Joy Trickett. We moved to Simcoe in 1967 after being hired by the Simcoe Leaf Tobacco Company Limited and retired in 2007 as Senior Vice President. We have two children – a son Ben, living in Whistler, BC and a daughter Jody, married to Darryl Ward and living in Darryl’s home town of Owen Sound. Jody & Darryl are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our very first grandchild in May 2011.
